Points Center for Contemporary Art officially launched the residency program with S-AIR in Japan in July 2019, we will open to Chinese artists in mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The residency duration will be from July to mid-August to apply for the residency.
The winner will stay in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan from November to December 2019, and receive funding from the Japan Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hokkaido Art Foundation, and Sapporo City. The winner will stay in Sapporo for 2 months and must have basic English or Japanese to communicate and interact with the locals. Expect and encourage artists to experiment and create in their fields, and S-AIR will cooperate in collaboration within the community.
During the stay, the artist will collaborate with the S-AIR plan to give lectures and exhibitions (solo or group exhibitions). The artist is required to share the residence experience in Points Center for Contemporary Art after returning to China, in the form of exhibitions, lectures, or workshops.

One round-trip air ticket from Sapporo, Japan to China for international flights (up to 100,000 yen, ticket itinerary is required)
Daily living allowance of JPY3500
Residency duration: Artist residency: minimum 30 days, maximum 60 days; Curator's residency: minimum 20 days, maximum 30 days
Material fees (maximum 100,000 yen, including equipment, can be used for travel or additional subsidies, a receipt is required)
Translation / research support (Japanese / English)
Entry requirements: We hope that the artist will provide a public education activity before the end of the residency period. It can be any of an eclectic style of lecture, open studio, workshop, forum, presentation, etc.

Application eligibility requirements
Age 25 years and older. Mainly for artists with more than 3 years of artistic creation, who have independent artistic thinking, and breakthrough practice. Artists are mainly in the field of contemporary art, creation material is not limited.

About NPO S-AIR
S-AIR, founded in 1999 in Sapporo, Japan, is funded by the Japanese Ministry of Culture to support the artist’s residency program. Since its establishment, S-AIR has a total of 99 artists from 36 countries and regions participating in the residency program. Each year, based on the exchange, three artists and one curator/research scholar takes part in the residency.
