On April 19th, Cao Kai, who has already taken up residence at Points to work on his "Returning Home" project in and around the ancient town here and started the creation of an independent art project from a contemporary perspective. For a creative gap during this project, Cao Kai will present the first sharing on “Chinese New Animation.” As a professional media art worker, Cao Kai began to study experimental images in 2006. This salon will explore the development and sort through different periods of history from an early time, entering into the digital era and Chinese independent animation, the achievements and challenges of today, and continued evolution into the future.
About the speaker
Cao Kai, a researcher and practitioner of media art and film, lives and works in Nanjing, China. He graduated from Nanjing Art College in his early years and worked in TV media organizations for many years. After 2000, he worked as an independent artist in media art and film. His work methods include creation, education, critical writing, curatorial research, etc. Specific work directions include experimental films, documentaries, video art, and new media art.
